General Questions

What is UtahSBK and what types of events do you run?

Utah Superbike (formerly Utah Sport Bike Association) is a not for profit, all‑volunteer organization that offers road racing, StreetGP, Supermoto, Mini Moto, and Riding Schools at Utah Motorsports Campus.

All of our events take place at Utah Motorsports Campus

Utah Superbike runs sanctioned race events and “gateway” racing like Street GP, not open‑track track days. We partner with APEXTrackdays, which provides training opportunities on the Fridays prior to our race weekends.

Check out our Get on Track page for options on how to get started!

You can reserve garages, RV spots, and general parking directly through Utah Motorsports Campus Rentals. Garage space is limited — book early to secure your spot!

What classes do I qualify for?

Classes are divided by skill level (Novice, Intermediate, Expert) and bike type. Common classes include Superbike, Supersport, Lightweight Supersport, Super Street, and more. Check the Rulebook for full class descriptions and eligibility requirements.

You’ll need to complete the New Racer Certification (NRC) or hold a valid reciprocal license. Once eligible, register for your license through MotorsportReg. The license is $300 and is honored by MotoAmerica, CVMA, MRA, and others.

Yes! UtahSBK honors current licenses from AFM, AMA, AHRMA, CCS, CMRA, CRA, MRA, OMRRA, SMRI, USGPRU, USBA, WERA, WMRRA, and CVMA. Other licenses may be accepted at the discretion of the Director of Competition. See the Superbike page for details.

Bike prep requirements are fully outlined in the Rulebook. Your bike will go through tech inspection at each event.

Yes, we race in the rain unless conditions are deemed unsafe by race officials. Riders are allowed to use rain tires and adjust bike setup. Final decisions are always made with rider safety in mind.

Absolutely — spectating is free! Guests are welcome on race weekends at Utah Motorsports Campus. It’s a great day out for the whole family.

What is StreetGP?

StreetGP is an entry-level race program for street bikes — no full race license required. You get classroom instruction, practice sessions, and a simulated race. It’s the most accessible way to experience competition. Learn more about StreetGP

StreetGP is a structured, competitive event with a grid start and race format — not an open lapping session. You ride with a group, receive flag-marshal coverage, and compete for position, making it much closer to real racing than a standard track day.

No — StreetGP does not require a full UtahSBK race license. It is designed specifically for riders who want to experience racing before committing to the full licensing process. See the StreetGP page for registration details.

Completing multiple StreetGP events can be a path to full race licensure, at the discretion of the Director of Schools. It’s a great way to build track experience and demonstrate readiness. Visit the New Racers page to learn about all licensing options.

StreetGP has minimal bike prep requirements — most standard track-day-prepared street bikes are eligible. Full requirements are in the Rulebook.

Helmet, jacket, gloves, pants, and boots are all required. Full leathers are recommended but not mandatory for StreetGP. Check the Rulebook for the complete gear requirements.

What classes do I qualify for?

Supermoto has classes for youth and adult riders across multiple skill levels and bike sizes. Check the Supermoto Rulebook for the full class breakdown and eligibility.

A Supermoto license is $50 and is separate from the Superbike license. Register through MotorsportReg. No NRC is required — new riders are guided through the process at rider meetings.

Supermoto bike prep requirements are outlined in the Supermoto Rulebook. Your bike will go through tech inspection at each event.

Full protective gear is required — helmet, jacket, gloves, pants/leathers, and boots. Specific requirements are listed in the Supermoto Rulebook.

Youth riders are welcome in Supermoto! Age and class eligibility details are in the Supermoto Rulebook. Visit the Supermoto page for more information.

What classes do I qualify for?

Classes range from Stock 50cc youth bikes up to Open Mini 160cc+ and MiniGP bikes with clip-ons. Check the Mini Moto Rulebook for the full class list and eligibility.

Mini Moto accepts a wide variety of small bikes, including Groms, R3s, 250s, 450s, R7s, Ohvales, pit bikes, Surrons, and more. See the Rulebook for the complete list of eligible bikes.

Mini Moto bike prep requirements are outlined in the Mini Moto Rulebook. Your bike will go through tech inspection at each event.

Full protective gear is required for all riders. Specific requirements are detailed in the Mini Moto Rulebook.

Mini Moto is designed to be accessible for young riders. Age and class eligibility details are in the Mini Moto Rulebook. Visit the Mini Moto page for more information.

How do I get my race license?

The main route is completing the New Racer Certification (NRC) program. Alternatively, if you already hold a license from a recognized club (AFM, AMA, WERA, etc.) you can use reciprocity. Register for the NRC through MotorsportReg.

Classes are based on your skill level, license level (Novice/Expert), and bike spec. The Rulebook has full class descriptions. If you’re unsure, reach out — our board members are happy to help.

If you’ve never been on track before, StreetGP is a great low-commitment first step. If you’ve done track days and are ready to race, the NRC gets you a full license in one weekend. Either way, we’ve got a path for you!

NRC events are once each season. Check the Events Calendar for upcoming dates. We also partner with APEXTrackdays for track day prep on the Fridays before race weekends.
